The best sommelier of Dalmatia will be chosen on April 17th in Dubrovnik
For the supreme sommelier, it is necessary to know the wine culture of the whole world, do a lot of tasting, continuous learning, development, and growth of knowledge. All the sommeliers of Dalmatia will be able to present their expertise on 16th and 17th April 2018 at Hotel Excelsior in Dubrovnik. And applications are still open.
In the organization of the Croatian Sommelier Club, for the third time, the best Dalmatian sommeliers will compete. The competition is held on 16th and 17th April 2018 in the Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik. The first day is scheduled for the quarterfinals and semi-finals, which will be closed to the public, while the second day the sommeliers will compete for the title in front of the audience.
At the last year’s competition, eight candidates fought for the sommelier of Dalmatia title. The title was won by SinišaLasan, who later also gained the title of national champion, in the contest for the best Croatian sommelier at the Hotel Ambassador in Opatija.
During the best Dalmatian sommeliers Championship, national winner Siniša Lasan will lead a workshop on the theme Wines of Dalmatia.
Events like competitions, professional and unprofessional education, expert lectures, publishing professional publications are the way in which the Croatian Sommelier Club works on the advancement of the sommelier profession. They try to develop the awareness of food and beverage culture and work on the education of professionals and citizens.
All this includes the promotion of Croatian winemaking to show Croatia as the best possible tourist, gastronomy and wine location to the rest of the world.
Apart from being able to attend the competition for the Sommelier of Dalmatia 2018 in April, you can also join Dubrovnik FestiWine, which will be held from 16th to 22nd April 2018. The southernmost Croatian wine festival brings together leading producers and distributors of wines from Croatia and the surrounding countries to share the experiences of winemakers and other experts.
During the Festival Week, all visitors within the program “Dubrovačkavinskasetemana” can visit restaurants, wine bars and cafe bars labelled “Wine Friendly”, and taste the finest wines that blend in wonderfully with fine delicacies of the Dubrovnik area.
So, if you are a wine lover, Dubrovnik is the right place to be in April.
