Jakob Syrah 2013
The name of the winery comes from the winemaker’s last name, Ilija Jakobović. Jakob vineyards are located in the fertile south eastern Croatian region, Slavonija in Brodski Stupnik. There are 6.5 hectares of Bordoux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Rhone Valley Syrah. An interesting characteristic of this region is that it runs through the 45th parallel, same as Bordeaux, the Rhone and Italy’s Piedmont. Grapes are refrigerated and transported to Zagreb where the wine production is done in a small boutique winery. Inside Jakob boutique winery there are 50 barriques where Bordeaux blend of Slavonian berrys ripens. First year in stainless steel, and then two years in barriques.
