Daniel Szabo from Markus Winery is an excellent example of Croatian Vins de garage (garage winery). He made his first dingač in the middle of Zagreb, on Markuševac hill (the winery was named after the hill). Markus winery buys the highest quality grapes from small eco vineyards and brings them to Zagreb for further production. In Markus winery, an emphasis is being put on indigenous varieties, plavac mali, and babić. By combining the traditional and modern winemaking methods, they give a unique mark to their wines, characteristic for Markus brand. Markus winery today produces a total of 17,000 bottles.

The wine is deep ruby-red color. Elegant and potent at the same time. It has intense character and gentle tannins. The aromas of cherry and black currant interweave with the scents of caramel and mild woody notes giving the wine round flavor and a long finish. Grapes come from ecological vineyards from Nadin area, the region of northern Dalmatia.It aged for 12 months in French barrels (225L). It is recommended to age for at least five more years.
