The Vinum Langhe Rosso 2010

- +

The Vinum winery is located in Abruzzo, Italy, where Vassilios Roberto Dragani, his wife Natalia, and his sister continue the multi-generational history of winemaking.  In addition to making wines from their organic estate vineyards in Aburzzo, The Vinum also makes wines from Piemonte (Piedmont) as well as Toscano (Tuscany), partnering with vineyards in those iconic regions to source the best grapes to make their classic and elegant wines.  The Vinum presents a full portfolio representing the best of Italy’s native varietals and wine regions including Barolo, Barbaresco, Chianti, Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, as well as some inventive blends from Tuscany and Piedmont. Sustainability of the land and respect for tradition are guiding principles for The Vinum.

Think of this wine as sort of a Nebbiolo cuvee, an inventive blend that combines the best of two different Piedmont varietals to create a wine that can easily compete head-on with Barolo and Barbaresco.  The 2010 vintage created wines perfect for aging; now is the perfect time to buy. On the nose, aroma of ripe blackberry, raspberry and red cherry with a hint of vanilla. The explosion comes in the mouth, where it is open, full-bodied, and velvety. The elegance of the two varietals combines beautifully to deliver a strong finish.
